ARE YOU BEING CONSIDERED?

He sets a "behold" before it, a special note of exclamation, inviting and arresting attention. "Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair" (Song of Sol. 4:1). His opinion He publishes abroad even now, and one day from the throne of His glory He will avow the truth of it before the assembled universe. —Morning and Evening Do you remember the story of Job? The Bible tells us, that one day in the midst of Job's peaceful existence, God asked satan a question. God asked, "Hast thou considered my servant Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil." (Job 1:8 [ASV]) Count on this, if you are a child of God, serving Him and living for Him, you too, will be "considered". When God shows us off, satan is going to attack. he looks for those things that are most precious to us--the things we treasure, and he will use those things to cause us to lose focus. he

THE PARADOX OF DEATH

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life." 2 Corinthians 5:1-4 (KJV) On January 1, 2010, my family suffered a shocking loss. It left us all distraught, and hurting. We find ourselves reeling, trying to grasp something to steady us. My cousin, Arlene Shaw, went home to be with the Lord, that day, unexpectedly. The death of the saints is precious in God's sight, but for those of us who are still here, it can be extremely difficult to process the loss--particularly, when it is unexpected. No time for good-bye's, apologies, or one more chance to

CHEERFUL GIVERS

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give ; not grudgingly , or of necessity : for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you ; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God." 2 Corinthians 9:7-11 KJV) If you go to church, you have probably heard that, "God loveth a cheerful giver". You probably heard it just before the offering plate was passed--and the tithes and offering were received. We tend to associate this portion of Scripture with our giving in church, to God, to be used by the assembly, bu

INVICTUS???

There's a new movie out, called "Invictus". I really would like to see it, since a favorite actor of mine--Morgan Freeman, is starring in it. I don't know what the movie is about, but I'm not crazy about the name, since I'm pretty sure it is taken from the poem, of the same name. Invictus--(the poem, that is) is very well-known. We hear it often at graduations. It goes like this: "Out of the night that covers me , Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed . Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul .&
